Equine Science
This course is designed to educate students about the equine industry and standards from anatomy, nutrition, reproduction, health care, physiology, horse judging, and influential associations. Students from limited experience with horses or lifetime experience with horses will find this course educational and packed with detailed information. This course also has a variety of hands on opportunities with horses.
Horsemanship
This class is designed to give students an extensive hands on experience with horses. The students will learn first hand all the responsibility that comes with caring for horses by cleaning stalls, feeding, and helping with facility cleaning and repairs. They will also learn about importance of ground work with horses such as turn out routines, lunging, attending to medical needs, bathing, show preparation, and much more. The other element is learning how to ride and all the additional knowledge that comes with riding. This includes tacking, bridling, proper riding positions (both English and Western), riding with feel and consistency, leg wrapping, leather cleaning, etc. This class is an extremely hands on class that is hard work, but a favorite among many students.
Agribusiness
This course covers the fundamental elements of creating a successful business and the basics of economics. This is generally an upper level course for juniors and seniors to take. Some of the highlights of this course include learning about different business entities, business plans, finances, insurances, macroeconomics, careers, entrepreneurship, business development, marketing, and professional development. This course focuses on detailed projects that give students a comprehensive experience of the importance of business.
